Hmmm... Maybe you are still hesitating to install Ubuntu 18.04 desktop to your loved Windows computer, well... you can do a virtualization of Ubuntu within your Windows machine.
For the record, I love MS Windows. My laptop is pre-installed with a licensed copy of Windows 10. What I am trying to say is that if your copy of Windows is pirated, better change it to Linux instead!
Virtualization is creating a virtual computer within your Windows system. The good thing about virtualization is that you can simultaneously work with your Windows and your virtual machine.
Your virtual machine can access your Windows drives thus sharing files will be a breeze.
With virtualization, we will be using Oracle's VirtualBox. This is free and supports multiple guest operating systems. A link to the VirtualBox will be shared at the end of this article.
You must remember that VirtualBox version 6.0 and above only supports 64bit systems. Which means the latest VirtualBox that you can get for 32bit systems is the last VirtualBox 5 version.
1. Go to Oracle's VirtualBox site and download the latest VirtualBox that is compatible with your system.
Click on the link Windows hosts (I assume you are using a Windows rig).
2. Choose where to save the VirtualBox executable.
3. Aside from the VirtualBox executable, you also need to download the Extension Pack.
4. In case you want to download older versions of VirtualBox, click on the VirtualBox older builds link.
5. Choose your version of VirtualBox.
6. After downloading your VirtualBox executable, open the said executable and this will be the initial screen that appears.
Click Next.
7. Click Next.
8. Click Next.
9. Click Yes.
10. Click Install.
11. Check Always Trust software from "Oracle Corporation".
Click Install.
12. Wait...
13. Uncheck Start Oracle VM VirtualBox...
14. Open the downloaded Extension pack executable.
Click Install.
15. Initially, the I Agree and I Disagree buttons are disabled. Scroll down to the bottom to enable both buttons.
Click I Agree.
16. VirtualBox is successfully installed.
Click OK.
